Two-vehicle head-on crash kills Roseville man and leaves 1 with major injuries, CHP says

A Roseville man died in a head-on collision Thursday in Sutter County that left another man with major injuries, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol was altered about 3 p.m. to the incident on West Riego Road, east of Pacific Avenue.

For unknown reasons, the 24-year-old Roseville man crossed into oncoming westbound lanes and collided into a Chevrolet truck driven by a Sacramento man, said Officer Brian Danielson, a spokesman for the CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office.

The Roseville man died at the scene. The Sutter County Coroner’s Office is expected to identify him after family are notified.

The Chevrolet driver, age 55, was taken to a hospital with major injuries while his passenger, a 27-year-old Sacramento man, complained of pain, the CHP said.

The collision’s cause is under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the crash, the CHP said.
