In the Slovenian river town of Trebnje, local firm Arhitektura Jure Kotnik has created a peppy two-story shipping container house that, unlike the shipping container greenhouses and artist communes of yore, doesn't take itself too seriously. In fact, with pink polka dots on its slate gray façade, the spread—essentially two containers stacked perpendicularly and connected via vertebrae-like spiral staircase (below)—has a cartoonish stylishness that would have the likes of Minnie Mouse kicking down the door. And, really, what more could you ask for in a home?
