When most couples split, they usually just have one property to divide up, but in the case of celebrities, a divorce or separation can mean major real estate rearranging. Take Kelsey and Camille Grammer, who had to tackle splitting up nine homes between the two of them (and some still haven’t sold), or Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who also had a sizable real estate portfolio.

Hollywood power couple Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are separated — “taking a break,” a rep told CNN — and the question is if the separation turns to divorce, what will be the outcome for their homes?

Reportedly this New York home is where Zeta-Jones is holing up, riding horses with her mom on the palatial spread the couple bought in 2010. According to a New York Post article at the time, the two rented the 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath home for at least six months before signing a contract to buy it for $5.25 million.

The 6,300-square-foot colonial-style mansion sits on 5.7 acres. Built in 1938, the home has been “beautifully updated.”

Zeta-Jones and Douglas don’t just live on any old street in Manhattan but on Central Park West, in the historic Kenilworth building. Built in 1907 and named for a 12th-century English castle, the building is host to units that boast both charm and luxury.

Their home is actually made up of three units, creating a full-floor penthouse with sweeping views of Central Park and the Upper West Side.

The couple also own two homes outside the U.S.; one in Swansea, a coastal city in Zeta-Jones’ native Wales, and the second, a glamorous retreat in Bermuda. The Swansea home, in particular, is home to Zeta-Jones’ parents and is where the family stays when visiting the U.K.

Former homes

As far as their former real estate collection goes, it’s quite expansive, including a home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, which they sold in 2004, a condo in L.A.’s Century Towers and a ski retreat in Snowmass, CO.
