At least Scarlett Johansson will have a quiet place in the Amagansett dunes to chill out in the wake of her SodaStream/Oxfam controversy.

According to the New York Post, the American actress is the buyer for a $2.2 million custom-built, shingled home in the relaxed but increasingly exclusive beach town in Long Island’s Hampton Bay’s area.

The median home value in Amagansett is $1.5 million, which is less than the $2.5 million median home value of East Hampton, where celebrities and bankers have created a high-rent beach head for the very rich and famous, including Jennifer Lopez and investors like Peter Solomon.

Johansson’s new playhouse sits on 1.4 acres and abuts the Peconic Land Trust and Napeague State Park, which will provide acres and acres of privacy. The home has an open floor plan and is surrounded by many decks that extend the living space to the outside. There are 4 bedrooms, including a master suite with its own private balcony and fireplace and 3 ensuite guest rooms, all with their own balconies.

Disclosure of Johannson’s new summer home comes just as the actress announced on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 that she was resigning as an Oxfam ambassador over her role as spokeswoman for SodaStream, an Israeli company that operates on the West Bank.

Oxfam accepted her resignation, calling her attachment to the company incompatible with the organization’s disapproval of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Pro-Palestinian activists have asked consumers to shun products produced in these settlements, which are illegal under international law.
