Rich Chinese man buys 2 gold Apple Watches for dog

The son of China's richest man touched off an Internet firestorm after posting a photo of his Siberian Husky wearing two Apple Watch Editions.

The Apple Watch is going to the dogs-or at least one very privileged pooch in China.

The son of China's richest man touched off an Internet firestorm Tuesday after posting a photo of his Siberian Husky wearing two Apple Watch Editions, according to The Shanghaist.

Wang Sicong, known for his controversial social media posts, posted four photos of his dog wearing a gold Apple Watch with white bands on each of his two front paws. The photos were posted on the dog's personal Weibo account, which has 700,000 followers, and the caption read:

"Haha, I have new watches! I'm supposed to have four watches since I have four long legs. But that seems too tuhao so I kept it down to two, which totally fits my status. Do you have one?"

The word "tuhao" is a derogatory term meaning vulgar wealth or nouveaux riche.

The Apple Watch Edition sells for around $14,000 in China, meaning that Wang's pooch, named Wang Keke, has $28,000 worth of paw bling.

Predictably, in a country where the average wage is still under $5,000 a year, Wang's post prompted all manner of backlash. One Weibo user wrote back, "I should live worse than a dog," while most other responses were filled with expletives.

Wang is the son of Wang Jianlin, the chairman of property giant and conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group, who is believed to be the richest man in China, with a fortune of more than $40 billion.

The younger Wang has attracted frequent controversy and criticism for his social media posts. In April, he posted crude photos of him and his dog, which prompted China's state-run new agency to say that Wang has "stained the purity of the Chinese" and that he should not "treat vulgarity as a personality."
