312 W 115 St-Building Façade-NYC
There’s nothing too scandalous about this Harlem brownstone, but it was once the home of actress Kerry Washington. The “Scandal” star shared the home with actor David Moscow when they were engaged (the pair split in 2007).
The circa 1900 building boasts a restored facade and many period details, including stained-glass windows and pocket doors. The home spans 3,500 square feet divided into four units. Washington and Moscow lived in the ground-floor parlor apartment, which includes access to a small backyard garden.
Moscow’s experience in Harlem eventually led the actor to begin investing in property there. He started one of the area’s first privately funded, low-income green housing developments and is hoping to develop more empty lots into mixed housing, day care centers and after-school programs.
As for Washington, the Emmy-nominated actress currently splits her time between New York and L.A. She grew up in the Bronx, but recently bought a Hollywood apartment that she’s remodeling.
How much would the Harlem real estate market brownstone cost per month? Assuming 20 percent down on a 30-year fixed mortgage, a monthly payment would be $11,225, according to Zillow’s mortgage calculator.
