Home Depot Founder’s House Gets a $700,000 Price Cut

Zillow

Home Depot founder's home

The for-sale listing describes 7460 Wildercliff Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30328 as a custom-built home, but the question is whether Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus followed the mantra of his big-box hardware store and did the work himself.

Either way, the Atlanta manse is on the market at a new reduced price of $3.2 million. The house was first listed in 2011 for $3.9 million.

As with many personalized homes, the mansion is filled with a few over-the-top features including an indoor lap-pool and exercise room right off the master suite, a media room and enormous wine cellar. The 5-bedroom, 8-bath home measures 10,314 square feet. A separate, two-bed, two-bath apartment offers additional room for guests.

Whether or not he picked up the hammer himself, Marcus bought the property back in 1985 for $260,000; the custom construction was completed in 1987.

The listing is held by Betsy Akers of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty.
