The Skinny: To hear the brokerbabble opine about a "castle" that's a "statement of your success," one might think this suburban D.C. home was transported stone by stone from the French countryside. Instead, it's just another in a long line of overbuilt McMansions that litter the northern Virginia countryside. The "bejeweled walls and draperies, opulent architectural archways, columns, trims and moldings, and the most exquisite fixtures and finishes" might not, as the brokerbabble claims, "fill you with pride as you welcome heads of state, sports figures and celebrities to your next Royal Ball," but at least the place has size on its side, with ten bedrooms and 12 bathrooms spread over more than 15,000 square feet. The 0.87 acre lot is hardly baronial, but the seat of American power is close at hand, just 35 minutes drive in light traffic. Sold shortly after its 2007 construction for $4M, the sprawling mansion is currently listed for $5.5M. UPDATE: A tipster wrote in to tell us that the broker's many royal references were all hinting at the identity of the owner, a Saudi princess.
