Steve Martin lists longtime home, built of concrete and inspired by ... freeways?
We’re not sure what we were expecting when we saw Zillow’s news that comedian and banjo player Steve Martin was selling his longtime Santa Barbara home.
We are sure we weren’t expecting this.
Sure, we knew that Martin is a serious art collector (even if some of his fans don’t know that and are bored stiff when he talks about his lesser-known passions).
But we’d seen his lighthearted Caribbean estate — which, incidentally, has been on the market for years and is now about $9 million after markdowns. Its sunny conventionality didn’t prepare us for his Santa Barbara estate. (Click here to see his cheery St. Bart’s estate.)
