The last year — especially the last month — has been rough on Robin Thicke:

• A year ago, the singer-songwriter separated from Paula Patton, his wife of 10 years and mother of his son, Julian Fuego Thicke (born 2010). They'd been high school sweethearts and were involved for about 20 years.

• He desperately wanted to reconcile, even releasing an album named "Paula" with the single "Get Her Back." ("I gotta treat her right, I gotta cherish her for life," he sang — "I never should have raised my voice or made you feel so small / I never should have asked you to do anything at all / I should have kissed you longer / I should have held you stronger / And I'll wait for forever for you to love me again.")

• The album, released in June, tanked on both personal and professional terms.

• He listed his family's longtime family home in the Hollywood Hills last summer. His dad, actor and TV host Alan Thicke, bought the house back in 1990 for $910,000, then signed it over to his son as a pre-wedding gift in 2005.

• Patton filed for divorce in October. It just became final last week.

• A couple of weeks ago, a jury found that he and "Blurred Lines" co-writer Pharrell Williams owed Marvin Gaye's family $7.3 million for the song's similarity to Gaye's 1977 hit "Got to Give It Up." (Thicke's dad tweeted afterward: "Wish I could have talked this out with Marvin Gaye so that neither of our kids got screwed.#2greatsongs,#onemisguidedverdict.")

But this should take the sting out a bit: That house he put up for sale, originally listed at $2,985,000, just sold in an off-market deal for $4.9 million, the Los Angeles Times reports. That's two-thirds more than the asking price. Admittedly, the original ask was pretty low for the area — among lots of celebrities in the so-called Bird Streets of L.A.'s Hollywood Hills — but still. Two million dollars more than he'd sought? Not bad at all.

The home itself is surprisingly homey, even perhaps a little dated-looking, but it has knockout city views.

And he has a girlfriend who's a 20-year-old model to liven up the scenery. She recently posted a couple of selfies to her Instagram account that she shot at his home (in addition to the selfies published by TMZ last year that she has since deleted).
