If only these walls -- or the massive "foo dog" statues guarding the threshold -- could talk.

Actor Nick Nolte recently sold 2 acres of the 6 acres he owns in Malibu, including the 6,000-square-foot main house and 2,400-square-foot guesthouse formerly owned by Tommy Chong (of Cheech and Chong) and Don Felder of the Eagles, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The buyer paid $3.9 million. Nolte initially sought $8.25 million.

Nolte began assembling the compound almost 25 years ago, and is now downsizing into a portion of it. That means the new owner will have him as a neighbor in Bonsall Canyon.

And then there's the headline and subhead of Esquire's 1999 profile.
