Jensen Ackles renovates and lists Malibu house (before-and-after photos)

When TV heartthrob Jensen Ackles of "Supernatural" bought this house in Malibu, California, he and his wife acquired an interior design that was a little outdated -- including a painful master bathroom that Variety's property gossip said was "slathered in some sort of marble that looks disturbingly too much like mortadella."

On the bright side, they managed to "save" about $1 million over its original $5.95 million asking price, paying $4.8 million at the end of 2012.

Now, a year and a half and a gut renovation later, they've listed the Malibu property at $6.995 million. (They're moving to one of the other homes they own, their real estate agent told the Wall Street Journal.)

Its selling points include a brand-new kitchen and master bath, plus one of the neighborhood's few coveted beach keys, providing access to the gated and exclusive Little Dume beach. Those keys alone are thought to add half a million dollars or more to the value of a Malibu home.

Gone are the mortadella surfaces, replaced by more subdued marble and subway tiles. A giant steam shower and a gently bubbling air tub contribute to the new master suite's "ultimate luxury experience," as the listing calls it.
