In the fall of 2010, actors Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas paid about $5.1 million for this 1938 country house in Bedford, a part of New York's Westchester County popular with celebrities. It had been recently renovated -- perhaps most notably with a new kitchen -- but still retained much of its country feel. (Or, as Variety's redoubtable Real Estalker less charitably put it at the time, much of the decor "reeks of dignified but boring grandmas and grandpas but, just as a pimento gets stuck up into an olive, the vintage house contains a country-style but contemporary and fully equipped kitchen.") Last summer the celebrity couple separated, and Zeta-Jones stayed there as her home base while Douglas decamped for Manhattan. Perhaps not coincidentally, around the same time the house was extensively renovated, injecting a healthy dose of Hollywood: velvety textures, lots of luster and sparkle, rich and daring colors including a whole room done in an orchid hue reminiscent of Pantone's and Sherwin-Williams' Color of the Year. The property also has a new guesthouse and a "glorious master closet suite" to showcase a formidable shoe collection.

This past spring, Zeta-Jones and Douglas appeared together in public for the first time since taking their break, and now are working on rebuilding their marriage.

Now they've listed the house, according to Zillow Blog. They're asking $8.1 million for the glamorized estate, or about $3 million more than they paid four years ago.
