Dave is an excellent resource for this market. In addition, Dave will go above and beyond to meet the needs of his clients. For example, Dave came to walk my wife and I through a house on Thanksgiving with only a few hours notice. Note, I did not go through a negotiations process or closing with Dave, but my ratings are based on my assessment of his skills and expertise.

We had a good experience. As alumni with children approaching college age Dave used his knowledge of the area to help us decide on an investment place for our children to live while at school. We were specific on our needs and he helped us fill them. He helped negotiate a fair contract that was quickly accepted. Dave was easy to get a hold of when we had questions and worked around our travel schedules for viewing property. He knows how to get the job done and didn't waste our time. That is appreciated. Dave Phillips is not only an exceptionally responsive and accommodating realtor, but also an amazing tactician! Thanks to his expert advice (that involved late-night strategizing with his father Doug), we were able to close on a dream property in one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in Blacksburg. When we first became aware of the listing, the chances of us securing the deal were really rather quite slim, as the property already had an offer on it, despite having been on the market for less than a week. With Dave?s guidance and counsel, we were able to put together a sophisticated bidding strategy which eventually helped us secure the deal! Dave assisted my wife and I during our house hunt. Although we ultimately purchased a house directly from an owner, without realtor assistance on either side, during the time we worked with Dave, he went above and beyond the call of duty. For instance, Dave came to show us a house, with less than an hour's notice, Thanksgiving morning. Dave also worked to accommodate our schedules, offering to meet in evenings, mornings, and on the weekend, often with very little notice. EDIT* Because we ultimately did not buy a house with Dave's assistance, I originally assigned him zero stars in relation to negotiation skills. Because that particular category is inapplicable to my experience with Dave, I have edited this review to assign three stars in order to avoid the injustice of having Dave's reviews reflect a zero star assessment when, in fact, I know Dave possesses good negotiation skills. However, it should be noted that I did not participate in a negotiation with Dave. Dave and his father Doug have a wealth of local knowledge relating to real estate in the New River Valley. I consulted with them as my wife and I were in the process of purchasing our first home. They were very helpful about how the process would work, what to look for contractually, information about different locations, and how to successfully negotiate a deal. I am thankful that they were on my team!
