Listed and sold a home
Angie is very nice. However, at the end of the day I paid for the buyer's closing cost, reduced the listing price by $5,000 and made repairs that I thought were not necessary. There was an air conditioning coil that needed to be repaired. However, the air conditioner was functional and did not prevent the future buyers from collecting on rent. At some point in the future, it will need a new air conditioning unit. However, at some point in the future, my townhouse would also be worth more (market value) which would make up the difference. Unfortunately, I had to sell the house. The day of closing, there were still adjustments being made to the HUD statement (not in my favor) hours before closing I think Angie was very good in communicating want the buyer's wanted. But, not good at making counter offers on my behalf to get me the highest possible price. Would I recommend her again? Yes. But, don't pay for closing costs, go down on your price or make repairs on the buyer's behalf. Be careful. Patricia Banchs Less ... More

Helped me buy and sell homes
I've personally known Jim for more than half my life and have had the pleasure of working with him on many transactions. He has always been a true professional and is also one of the most personable agents I know. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing real estate assistance in the Triangle Metro Area.

Listed home, but didn't sell
The Jim Allen group attempted to sell our home in Raleigh, NC. Although Jim Allen was our agent, more often than not he was too important to speak to us directly. The rep that did deal with us directly we were told was working only part time, at one point wasn't even working for them... had an irrigation business? We were promised a quick sale without having to lower our price. We had to lower it twice and were within just a few thousand dollars of having a sale and the Jim Allen group let our counter offer expire, and let our agent agreement expire without being able to negotiate a deal. Then the office staff threatened us saying that we could not sell our home using another agent and that we had to exclude any previous buyers, but failed to even send us the list of agents per the agreement. A bad experience for us, but we were referred by friends who had a good experience so I guess it depends on how many zeros are on the end of the dollar amount of your sale/purchase. Less ... More
Response fromJim Allen
It is unfortunate that this client feels that they had a bad experience. Selling a home can be an emotional journey and for some, it also means a financial loss. These two trigger points sometimes leaves a bad impression to a client no matter how much assistance and professionalism is given on the part of a real estate agent. In this market, there is not guarantee that a home will sell - no matter low much the price is lowered. A contract is a contract and as I'm not certain of the actual facts of this situation, I would suspect that there was a predetermined time frame of agreement to the sale of the home and the contract dates - it is not uncommon to maintain vigilance on a contract and hold firm.
