If you are expecting to sit on a cold, hard bench, you are in for a nice surprise when you take a seat on this rather rugged-looking, couch-like object.
A trompe d’oeil sofa titled Soft Wood, for obvious reasons, isan experiment fabricated by Front Design unlikely to make its way to mass production, but that makes a point or two, regardless, about expectations and reality, visuals and materials.
A simple description from the designers, after its debut in Milan: “A textile with photorealistic wood print is covering the upholstered sofa. An exploration in the difference between the visual and tactile experience.”
