30th birthday gift for Ashley Tisdale: She sells the house Dad built for her

Actress and singer Ashley Tisdale, the former Disney Channel star perhaps most famous as Sharpay from "High School Musical," has finally found a buyer for the house her dad built for her in the Valley.

First listed last year shortly after she got married, the house just sold for $2.3 million — considerably below the appraised value. Tisdale had originally asked $2,649,000.

She wrote on Instagram a few days ago:

"This window I looked at walking into my home for the last 6 years. These walls were built by my dad and hold so many memories. Good/ bad, heartbreak/ love, failures/success. This house is where I spent my 20's. The growth and life lessons will never be forgotten. This house is a reflection of who I am and what I've become. Im excited to start a new chapter with my husband in our new beautiful home we share together and will forever be grateful for my time spent here. #newbeginnings"

It's been a busy few weeks for her: The sale happened just in time for her 30th birthday last month, and it also coincides with the launch of her new lifestyle website, which she calls The Haute Mess. Its niche, she writes: "Where other lifestyle sites tell you how to achieve the 'perfect' something, we are celebrating imperfection and figuring out life together, but admittedly a HAUTE MESS while doing so."

We'll leave it up to you whether the house she sold fits into that credo. She bought the property in 2007 for $1,349,000 and tore down the existing house, designing the new house herself. Her dad, contractor Michael Tisdale, built it for her. It has three bedrooms — though only one was used as such when Tisdale lived there — and three baths in 3,400 square feet. The storage space is the home's most extraordinary feature. She told InStyle magazine that she and her dad clashed over the master suite's walk-in closet (which has a built-in island — she's more of a fashionista than a foodie): "I wanted color to pop off the hangers, and I wanted it clean. I insisted on marble. My father said, 'It's going to be cold. You're going to want carpet.' We're both headstrong. He ended up being right. But it's still beautiful!"

And that's not even counting the bedroom that she requisitioned as a shoe closet, furnished with lots of seating so that she could hang out with friends there. (She used the third bedroom as a studio/office.) She said all that space was necessary: "If I don't see something, I won't remember I have it," she told InStyle. "In my last place I could never find anything."
