As first time homebuyers, Mike and I had no clue what we were doing, or where to even begin! We accidently came upon Sara while reading real estate agent reviews, and couldn't be more thankful that we did! Mike and I had a very specific area in which we wanted to purchase our first home, and certain criteria that our first home must have. When we first met with Sara she immediately had us fill out a form that asked us what our "must haves" are, and then within a few hours of our first initial meeting she had sent us a link to a website where she had posted several listings for us that met all of our criteria in our desired price range and location! One house in particular really stuck out to Mike and I, and within a day or two Sara met us at the home and we did a walk thru. We both fell in love with the home immediately, and knew that it was the house that we were meant to make our home. The journey to buying our first house was not an easy one at all. Very difficult sellers and an equally as difficult selling agent presented us with several issues along the way. However, Sara was incredibly persistent, professional at all times, honest with us each step along the way, and kept in constant communication with us (but not in an annoying way like may agents often times do!!) She negotiated the price of the home until it was at a number that we were comfortable paying, she negotiated the work that we wanted done on the home, and in the end we ended up with our dream home!! Sara also really impressed us with her connections. She was able to recommend an amazing mortgage company, insurance company, and inspector. Everything that we needed in order to purchase our first house Sara was able to provide for us. Aside from Sara's real estate skills, she is also just a great person, who we could tell from our first meeting with her really loves her job and is really invested in her clients. She would tell us if she thought a house had issues (she was honest and was trying to find us the perfect house...not just make a sale), and she really truly did care about our well being in the home buying process. Sara was very friendly and very accomodating to my schedule. The seller needed to close before 2013 and Sara made countless phone calls to the bank, to us the buyers and to the sellers to make that happen. We closed on the house at 2pm December 31 2012. I called Sara out of the blue due to a disagreement between an agent from another organization who wanted me to agree to a one year contract. Sara clarified that she would not require that agreement and said that her agency gave her the option to require or waive the broker fee. Sara travelled great lengths to show me properties where I was interested and suggested other areas that had been beneficial to other investors she knows. She helped envision how improvements may be made to change a single family home into a two-unit property, to remodel for a better fit and she pointed out potential problems I otherwise may have missed. She had no problem presenting an offer that I wanted to present (as opposed to some who discourage suggestions of creative financing and/or lower-than-expected offers). She recognizes strengths and weaknesses in a deal. Where other agents tried to push us into paying for extra services and fees, Sara was the only one who didn't give us the hard sell. Although she gave us recommendations, we never once felt pressured into using ?her? home inspector or mortgage broker. She respected our decisions and it was much appreciated. Another reason we chose Sara is because of her extensive knowledge of Brookline. Not only does she know the local businesses and resources in this neighborhood very well, but she has used these amenities herself and could therefore give us an insider's opinion. Her knowledge of the neighborhood housing stock and all of its quirks was also invaluable. I don't think we could have found an agent more knowledgeable about Brookline than she. Finally, when our bank gave us problems during the mortgage process, she really fought hard for us to get those issues resolved.
