We got nearly everything on our checklist of must haves in our first home. She was able to show us a variety of homes that were not listed on HAR that she thought we might be interested in. I was very pleased with Susan's willingness to help, even after hours. She also turned us onto a mortgage consultant who did a great job with helping us get into a house at a decent rate. Susan worked with us to prepare a lease-back agreement with the sellers that we both agreed to, and also lowered her commission to make the final price work out on the seller's behalf. Susan has also agreed to have the house re-keyed for us when it's time for us to move in. She worked with us to ensure a home warranty was provided at the seller's cost and also have the house professionally cleaned after the lease back. Here are a few things I have learned from our first home buying experience... 1. I will no longer work with a real estate agent who is listing and selling a home. I don't feel like Susan was able to negotiate on price for us. I had to do most of the negotiation myself since she was playing both sides of the fence. I understand that Susan had to cater to both parties, but I would have rather had a real estate agent who was on my team completely. I don't hold it against Susan, but next time I will not work with an agent who is both listing and selling the property. 2. I would not recommend Susan's home inspection company. I wasn't a fan of the individual who carried out our home inspection. When I asked the gentleman to see the slab leveling tool when I noticed a small dip in the floor, he said he had already preformed that test and that he would charge me extra to re-do it. I'm honestly not sure if the test was ever preformed as I never saw the tool. I didn't make a big deal about it, but I wasn't happy with his performance. I also know the home inspection was over priced. Do your own research and use a company you are comfortable with. All in all, I would definitely use Susan again in the future. My wife and I were first time home buyers and had know idea as to what we were doing and a friend recommended Susan to us.
