But after viewing a number of suburban condos situated in a densely populated area between two 7-11s that are only a mile apart in Lakeside, she insisted that Lakeside was a rural community. We said, Huh? Sure, it has a (very cool) rodeo grounds, but with suburban condos and a 7-11 right across the street. And a suburban high school right next to the rodeo grounds. And yes we moved there, and yes in fact, it is a very nice suburban place with a really fun rodeo as a sweet bonus. But as people from rural California, we could not parse this rhinestone cowgirl insistence that Lakeside is a rural community. (We later came to understand, many people who live in Lakeside also believe that they live in a rural community. Something they talk about this while shoppings at Von's, Albertsons, or eating at the KFC and McDonalds.) So long story short, we went with another agent because we did not understand the Lakeside culture. And that is probably more on us than her, as it turns out, because the whole community seems to suffer the same delusion, which at the end of the day is not really such a big deal after all.
