As part of our contract with the seller, we asked them to provide permit documentation for some electrical work and a new beautiful new deck they had built. Little did we know that the deck wasn't quite built to code; we ended up having our closing delayed for about a month and a half because of this (largely because of the holidays and the city of Portland was very strict with their permitting process--we actually felt bad for the seller).
