Selling our house was another step in executing our retirement plan that would ultimately get us to our home in Tennessee. However, while the weakened financial markets have impacted future plans of many, the depressed housing market was a much more ominous issue for us knowing that we needed to be out of the house within the next 2 years. There was time for our other investments to recover, but we couldn't run the risk of watching our principal dwindle as the housing market struggled. We needed to put the house on the market before it got worse and needed an agent could understand and support our plan and deliver a marketing strategy to accomplish it.
