Michele listed and sold my condo in under three weeks. Even though several distressed sales in my neighborhood had driven the prices of neighboring condos low, Michele believed in the community and my condo. She recommended an excellent professional interior designer who helped me prepare and stage the condo for market, and Michele paid for a professional photographer who took beautiful photos. Michele ensured that my listing maximized the potential from the internet and social media. As a result, we found buyers within a few weeks. My condo sold for a very good price. During negotiations, Michele was always right on target. Her decades of experience as a real estate broker were a tremendous help to me. Now Michele is helping me find my dream house. She is a kind, thoughtful, honest, and highly skilled professional who listens to her clients and applies all her knowledge and expertise on their behalf. I recommend her very highly. Less

While visiting Durham, NC from IL last July for a two week vacation to visit my son and daughter-in-law, I began looking at various on-line listings just to satisfy my curiosity about the pricing and availability of the local housing market. My plan to eventually relocate to the area was not a high priority but had been discussed at times over the years. In fact, I had no intention of doing anything more than ?window shop? on line while the kids were at work. As I continued to look for several days in a row, I became somewhat interested in a few of the homes and decided the only way I could really judge them would be to arrange for someone to show them to me. That evening, my son and daughter-in-law agreed to drive me by a few addresses I had written down. Once we saw the outside, there were several that I wanted to see more of. When we returned home, I went back on line to look for a particular realtor whose reviews I had read as they would randomly pop up on the screen when I was searching the home listings. I recalled reading the reviews written by clients that seemed to stand out above all the others I read but I hadn?t written down her name and was not sure if I could find a particular pop-up. All I could remember was the great reviews and the friendly smile on her face in the photo. Fortunately, I didn?t have to look long to find it and I decided to call her even though I was still not sure if I wanted to begin a relationship with a realtor right now since I was, as I reminded myself, merely ?window shopping.? The following day I contacted Michele Burris and she agreed to show me the homes on my list. From our first meeting, I made it known that I was only looking and before I would be ready to make an offer on any home, I would need to sell my home of almost 20 years in IL. Michele took me to the homes I had requested but I was disappointed that there were none that I liked well enough to even think about putting my house up for sale. Michele asked if I would like to look at some additional homes she had in mind that seemed to meet the criteria I had described and were in the price range I had mentioned. Since there was no mention of signing any agreement and the fact that Michele knew the areas so well, I decided to go with her on another day. As she drove me around, we got to know each other a little better and I appreciated Michele?s feedback on the homes we looked at. It was obvious to me that she was an honest person, not in it for the quick sale, and had my best interest in mind. We would discuss the pros and cons after each viewing and I believe that helped her to know what I was hoping to find and it helped me to see something I may have missed. By the time we finished, I believe she got to know what I wanted in a home as much as I did. Michele took me to a new housing community for ages 55 and over that I really liked but the price was more than I hoped to pay. From then on, I became particularly interested with the thought of buying a newly built home. She found another 55+ community that was still in the very early stages of completion with only 15 properties built. Because of a dispute between the developer and builder, the homes were being offered at a huge discount. By the time I saw them, it was almost time for me to return to IL. When I got back to IL, I surprised both my son and daughter-in-law and myself by putting my house up for sale. I was so afraid those homes would be sold before I could make my offer. Both my son and Michele did so many things for me that I was unable to do from IL to make my dream home become a reality. Michele was never what I would describe as a high pressure sales person. In fact, she pointed out some risks in my purchasing a home in a development that was currently having management problems. She was honest and straightforward, and always offered good advice. I appreciated her candor but in the end, I took the chance and purchased the home. I sold my IL home in September and moved into my new NC home in November. Michele is very caring and friendly and always has that lovely smile. I consider her a friend and would recommend her highly to anyone needing a realtor. 04/21/13 Less

My husband and I are first-time home buyers and were moving to Durham from Washington, DC. Since we have small children we didn't want to rent first and have to move twice so we decided to take the leap and buy before we knew the area well. Michele was excellent in educating us about the area and guiding us to neighborhoods that fit our needs. She showed us all the properties we were interested in and added ones that she thought we would like as well. The house we chose ended up being one she picked for us and she was able to negotiate the price down to our price range. We've been here for 5 months now and absolutely love it. Our location is perfect, the neighborhood is family friendly and quite and our neighbors are awesome. Looking at houses is stressful and Michele really helped us by giving us input when we needed it but also stepping back and letting us work through the decision process in our own way. I highly recommend Michele to anyone looking to buy a house in the Triangle area, but especially if you are new to the area and you are a first time buyer. Less

We from Germany to the triangle area last year and were then looking for a house to buy. We had interviewed with another agent as well, however Michele stood out with her follow through, supplied relevant information of public records, and use of technology. Additionally, we also enjoyed her nature and character, which made the whole process a lot easier throughout. She assisted us with a thorough research of the houses available and showed us about 30 houses within a good month. Now, we had a lot of questions being first time homebuyers but Michele supported us very patiently. One thing that was really important to us was not to be pushed to make an offer on a house. We valued the space and opportunity to talk and discuss between us and then approach her again once we made up our mind. She stood out with her responsiveness via phone and email, resourcefulness and consulted us when deemed necessary. As you can imagine, moving from overseas doesn?t take place without bumps in the road?.Michele stood by us and helped us work through them. We were very happy with our decision to work with Michele. I love that Michele really listened to us when we described where we were in life, what our general goals were in a new home and new neighborhood, what our style was, and so on. Not only did she honor our price range and show us homes we'd most likely be interested in based on our early wish list, she also showed us homes we would likely not have seen in our own search, because in a sense, she knew what we were looking for better than we knew, ourselves. This is just a taste of what Michele's experience brought to the table. She also expertly navigated us through the waters, dealing with North Carolina real estate regulations and law, booking inspections, negotiating fees and services with the seller, and ultimately helping us close on our new home within a month of putting the offer on it. Finally, her contact with us did not stop at signing. She followed up to make sure everything was going well, and in fact, she helped us negotiate a last-minute make-good on a previous repair that didn't quite meet expectations. I would highly recommend her, with no reservations, to others who are looking for a home in Durham or Chapel Hill, NC. Less

We worked with Michele on 3 separate home transactions and 3 separate searches from 2004 through 2012. She helped us to purchase 2 homes, one of which was a custom build, and to sell 1 home. Michele is knowledgeable, practical, available, and responsive. She is attentive to the needs/concerns of clients; in our home searches, she at times identified homes that would not have been included in our automatic hot sheets, simply based on awareness of our preferences. We always felt that Michele placed priority on protecting our interests in negotiations; she was a true advocate for us. Finally, Michele is personable and fun. These qualities are vital when a buyer and agent end up spending so much time together during these processes. Less

I bought my first house with Michele when I was 24. I didn't know how to do anything, but she was great at helping me with every step and never made me feel stupid. I had to email her many many times with small questions here and there. She would always get back to me, even if she was swamped with other work. I know that my friend used Michele to buy her first home as well, and my friend was very picky about the type of house she wanted. Michele was very patient and took my friend to over 40 houses in one weekend when they still lived in another state. Then when my friend was still dissatisfied, they got an apartment in Durham and continued house hunting for months until they found the right fit. In the process of buying our house, I trusted Michele's judgment and honesty. She always gave us resources to look up schools in the area, crimes rates, etc. Michele was able to make great negotiations as we looked at all the needed repairs, and save us some money. She really helped us find the right house too. My husband came and looked at houses and found our home in one weekend with Michele. When we put in an offer, we were competing with 2 other people for this house. She knew how much we needed to offer to take it, and this house has been a great fit for our family. When we sell our house, I am planning on using her because I know she can get the job done in a very tricky market. She knows a fair price and strategies to use to help you work in a tough market. It's been 2 years since we bought the house, but I have felt comfortable asking her a couple of questions since then for help with different issues. Recently, I emailed her for help on the value of our home to help us decide if we should refinance our house and she got back to us within a couple of days with lots of helpful information. I know she's constantly getting requests like that, but she is always very helpful. Less

Michele was our buyer's agent for our first home. We feel so lucky to have been able to work with her! She made the entire process less stressful and explained everything to us every step of the way. She was very knowledgeable not only about the Durham/Chapel Hill area but about real estate and buying/selling homes in general. She explained to us what kinds of things we could expect in different homes and what to look for. She was able to point out things in the house that we as first time buyers easily overlooked. Michele Burris recently helped us sell our townhouse and purchase a new home. The townhouse that we sold went under contract in 3 weeks while our next door neighbor?s townhouse was on the market for over a year. I attribute the quick sale of our townhouse to the excellent advice that we received from Michele. She carefully analyzed the other sales in our neighborhood to help us determine a reasonable asking price, and she gave us detailed advice on how to stage our home so that it would stand out. We were thrilled to sell our home so quickly because we had found a new house that we were ready to buy. Again, Michele gave us excellent advice and helped us expertly navigate some tricky negotiations about our preferred closing date and repairs. Michele took us on showings for about a year before we finally found the house that was a perfect fit. She did not once try to rush us or make us feel that we were inconveniencing her by requesting to see more houses. She understood that finding the right house can take time. My husband & I each give Michele Burris our highest recommendation as both a buyers & sellers agent. We met Michele (upon recommendation from friends of ours who were also clients of hers) when we were searching for our first home. As firt-time buyers, we knew very little about the home buying process. Michele made us feel at ease immediately. We were mostly impressed with her vast knowledge of the Triangle area as well as her flexibility & availability when we needed her to accompany us to view properties. With Michele's guidance, we found a wonderful home in a subdivision that met all of our needs & more with great ease. We had such a positive experience with Michele that we chose to enlist her help to sell our home three years later. Michele immediately jumped into action, arranging for a professional "stager" & photographer to come to our home to help in maximizing its appeal before officially listing the house. At the time our house was on the market, there were 30+ homes within a one mile radius also for sale. Our home sold in less than 2 months in a notoriously difficult market. Even after we'd accepted an offer, Michele worked equally as hard up until the closing date to continue to assist us in negotiating the many details involved in the transition. We know that without Michele's sound advice, positive attitude, & real estate expertise, our house could still be on the market today. Needless to say, we recommend Michele with great regard. Less
