Pat took the challenge and together we found a great property at a great price that I was able to purchase in the face of multiple other offers on the property. One of the reasons I chose Pat is because, being a first-time homebuyer, I wanted someone with deep knowledge about the particular areas that I was looking (Royal Oak, Berkley, Ferndale in particular). Pat was a real asset in this regard, knowing not only how different communities compared against each other (for example, on taxes), but also how different neighborhoods/streets within communities compared, and how different (sometimes unseen) features/qualities about a given location would affect the house. Pat clearly knows the houses in this area, and as any first-time buyer really needs, was able to speak with real knowledge on everything from the piping, to flooring, to water issues, etc. I found Pat to be very direct, frank, and forthcoming, and I definitely appreciated that. (I think perhaps the one negativer reviewer on here mistook Pat's directness for rudeness; in response to that specifically, I always found her professional and respectful.) Even with my tight timeframe, Pat never tried to oversell a property to me; she was willing and able to point out the drawbacks on each of the properties we viewed until I found the right one. I called Pat about my interest in seeing two properties that I found on zillow.com. Not knowing this area very well, and it being winter, I became confused and through miscommunication showed up (I think -- it's been 5 months ago and I've been very hesitent to write this but do not want anyone else to experience the most unprofessional manner I've ever encountered) at the property we were going to see after seeing the first one. Pat had my cell phone no. I did not have hers, nor did she ever offer it. She's the realtor; I've never purchased a home before. I sat and sat and finally called her real estate office. They did not have a cell phone for her. I then contacted the real estate office that had the house listed, explaining that I was trying to get in touch with my realtor. They were most helpful. The long and short of it was I finally -- sitting in the driveway of this home -- did talk to her. She was the most unprofessional realtor I've ever ever spoken to. Believe me, I've spoken to many. Basically, on zillow -- I've found most of the homes I wanted to see and called the realtors. The words spoken to me by her were horrible, simply horrible. She said, "I waited for you and my time is extremely valuable. This is my living. I have more important things to do than to help someone who isn't really interested in purchasing a home..." Then she slammed the phone down on me. I sat there in a state of disbelief. Please know that I always read reviews assuming those who take the time to write them are speaking the truth. I have and am sorry to write this but do so with the hope that you don't encounter what I did. My realtor through Real Estate One, Marilyn Levin, is the most laid back unpressuring person -- who showed me every house I called her about. I purchased one on a short sale and am very happy.
