We tried to sell our house by ourselves in the spring of 2012, and we were getting very little response. We contacted a couple of realtors. Karen's office responded immediately, and Karen visited us within a few days to look at our house and explain her services. Although we had not agreed to list with her, she offered several suggestions to help make our house more attractive to a potential buyer. These were not major renovations, but primarily small things that we hadn't thought of. She explained how her company did business, but did not pressure us to list with her. After a couple of days, we called her back to tell her we wanted to do business with her. After her ads appeared, we had several showings within a couple of weeks. Some went better than others, but there were many houses for sale in our area and the right buyer didn't come along right away. We left for an extended summer trip, and without complaint, Karen agreed to take care of several things the seller would normally do. While we were gone, the right buyer did see the house. Karen handled all the negotiations. We were firm on our price, and Karen respected that. After conceding a few minor points and adding some appliances and lawn equipment to the deal, we reached agreement. Because we were leaving the area, we had no place to stay after we moved out of the house and wanted to leave Massachusetts.
